Marine Corps Recruit Depot
The Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) is located just Northwest of downtown San Diego, West of I-5 & South of I-8. All guests of MCRD Bay View Restaurant are instructed to use Gate #4 (Main Gate).
(I encourage everyone to bring along a map of the campus and give yourself an extra 10 to 15 minutes to get there if you have never been to MCRD. I always get in lost in this place so it would be a good idea to bring the map, especially, for when you leave the wedding reception...or this could just be my personal problem.)
Entering and leaving the MCRD:
Vehicle drivers must show valid driver’s license to the Military Policeman at the gate before entering the Depot. All occupants of vehicles must wear seat belts. The MP will direct you to the Bay View Restaurant.
The speed limit throughout the base is 20 MPH. No cell phone use is allowed while driving a vehicle on base.
“GATE 4” is open 24 hours.
When exiting MCRD after 10PM, a sign on the closed “Gate 2” will direct you to turn right at the gate, onto Belleau Wood Avenue, then drive approximately ¾ miles to the exit at “Gate 4."
From the North to MCRD’s Gate 4:
Drive South on I-5. Take the Old Town Avenue exit (the first South-bound exit after I-8 exit). At the STOP sign, continue straight ½ a block to the YEILD sign. Turn right onto Witherby Street. Follow signs another ½ block to MCRD's Gate 4.
Once you have gone through Gate 4, you will turn left onto Tripoli Avenue. You will see a bridge on your left side that goes over Gate 4. You will make an almost u-turn onto that the bridge called Belleau Wood Avenue (it is an awkward turn). Follow Belleau Wood Avenue (at 20 MPH) until the road ends. Turn left onto Henderson Avenue and then right onto Dunlap Road. Follow the road to the right and it will take you to the Bay View Restaurant.

From the South to MCRD’s Gate 4:
Take I-5 North to Pacific Hwy. Stay in the right lane for 1/8 mile. Exit right at the large MCRD sign (caution: tight circular turn). Go under the Pacific Hwy and follow signs ½ a block to MCRD's Gate 4.
Once you have gone through Gate 4, you will turn left onto Tripoli Avenue. You will see a bridge on your left side that goes over Gate 4. You will make an almost u-turn onto that the bridge called Belleau Wood Avenue (it is an awkward turn). Follow Belleau Wood Avenue (at 20 MPH) until the road ends. Turn left onto Henderson Avenue and then right onto Dunlap Road. Follow the road to the right and it will take you to the Bay View Restaurant.

From the East to MCRD’s Gate 4:

From the West to MCRD’s Gate 4:
(Point Loma) From Rosecrans St., turn east onto LYTTON STREET, which then turns into BARNETT AVENUE. Drive past MCRD's Gate 2 and continue Southeast on Barnett. Stay in the right lane and watch for an immediate right turn exit (caution: quick exit) which will take you to Gate 4.
Once you have gone through Gate 4, you will turn left onto Tripoli Avenue. You will see a bridge on your left side that goes over Gate 4. You will make an almost u-turn onto that the bridge called Belleau Wood Avenue (it is an awkward turn). Follow Belleau Wood Avenue (at 20 MPH) until the road ends. Turn left onto Henderson Avenue and then right onto Dunlap Road. Follow the road to the right and it will take you to the Bay View Restaurant.

PLEASE NOTE:
Security conditions may cause changes in gate openings and closures. All Guests are instructed to use Gate 4. Guests must have appropriate Photo ID and may be asked to show it to MP. After the event, guests must leave immediately. NO SIGHTSEEING, JOY RIDING or TOURING the Depot are permitted.
